Our Discovery Process

Discovery I: An Orientation to Cedarbrook – a place for you to connect.
Offered six times a year, Discovery I lives up to its name as a way for you to encounter our history, mission, ministries, and beliefs. We meet for seventy-five minutes during the Sunday morning service. During this session, you will have the opportunity to meet and get acquainted with our some of our pastoral staff, have some hot coffee (and a donut if you would like), and learn more about our history, mission, ministries, and beliefs. It is also a great opportunity to connect with a small group of folks to begin to build the kind of relationships that will truly make Cedarbrook feel like home. Your questions and comments are welcome! For the dates of upcoming Discovery I classes, check our calendar.

Discovery II: Membership at Cedarbrook – a place for you to grow.
Offered three times a year, Discovery II is a friendly and informative four-week small group get together where you will have the opportunity to meet some new friends, and to continue building relationships with those you have already met. In addition to encouraging these new relationships, we will be seeking to help you answer three important questions.

  1. “Who are we as a church?” We will explore what the Bible says about the church, and look closely at the “product” every church is called to produce: disciples of Jesus Christ. In answering this question, we will build on the information we introduced during Discovery I, and take a deeper look at the “Three B’s” of our Purpose Statement: bringing, becoming, and bridging.

  2. “As a disciple of Jesus, what am I supposed to be doing?” Whether you have been a Christ-follower for thirty minutes or thirty years, have an extensive church background or none at all, have a great deal of spiritual training or very little, Christ wants you to be an active part of His body. We will look at a Biblical snapshot of the life and mission of a disciple … and we will help you see how you can live out that life and mission here at Cedarbrook.

  3. “What is my next step?” Considering your current progress on your spiritual journey and the opportunities available, what next step can you take to grow spiritually… to seek involvement in Cedarbrook… to serve out in the community?

Discovery III: Ministry inside and outside of Cedarbrook – a place for you to serve.
Offered three times a year, Discovery III is a four session spiritual gifts workshop where you will discover how God has designed and gifted you for life-long service. Through Scripture, personal assessments, and discussion you will uncover your personal SHAPE:

S
piritual gifts (what you are gifted to do)
Heart (what you love to do)
Abilities (what you are good at)
Personality (what you are like)
Experience (who you have become)

The purpose of Discovery III is not to ‘fill ministry slots’ within the church! It is to equip people to live out – in all areas of their lives – who God has made them to be.
