At Cedarbrook, we believe that one of the core tasks of the church is to train others in what it means to follow Jesus… so that they can then train others in this way of life. We hear this mission echoed in Paul’s words to his young protégé Timothy: “You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others” (2 Timothy 2:2). DNA Groups are one of our primary means of training others who can train others in Jesus’ way of life.

WHAT DOES DNA STAND FOR?

DISCOVER

Head_circle_new.png

We gather to DISCOVER the truth of God's Word and what it says about living for Jesus in today's world.

NUTURE

Heart_circle_new.png

We gather to NURTURE God's truth in our hearts and in relationship with one another. We will do this through prayer, encouragement, bearing one another's burdens, and pointing each other to Jesus.

ACT

Hands_circle_new.png

We spur one another on to ACT out our faith by obeying what Jesus calls us to do and sharing with others what he is doing in our lives.

WHAT IS A DNA GROUP?

An environment for intentional relationships

(intentional, because life is busy and if we don’t make it happen, it might not)

where a very small group of the same gender

(small enough to allow for honest conversation, no more than 3-5 people)

journey together for a year

(after a year or so, we’ll need to go offer this experience to others because it is too good to keep to ourselves)

listening and responding to Jesus

(this takes practice and is easier if we learn from each other)

and encouraging one another to follow him with abandon

(believing that Jesus is always leading us to the life we are meant for)
