- SANCTITY OF LIFE | cedarbrook
At Cedarbrook, we affirm the value of all life—supporting women, children, and families with Christ’s love through care, resources, and advocacy. SANCTITY OF LIFE At Cedarbrook, we recognize this is a divisive moment in our culture. And while our culture presents us with the false dichotomy that we can either support only women or only children. We believe the Gospel compels us to love both women and children, and we are committed to supporting and encouraging mothers and women broadly while at the same time affirming the value of all children at every stage of life. We believe that ALL PEOPLE are made in the image of God regardless of a person’s age, gender, ethnicity, economic status, or any other variables. When we advocate for life, that unequivocally includes advocating for the unborn. But we also must advocate for life at every stage. As a church, we are committed to providing as many compassionate options for care and support as we uphold the value of life with the love Christ calls us to. This is why we as a church do the work we do in partnering with local pregnancy resource centers in the area and encourage foster care and adoption. Find a selection of resources and serving opportunities. Pregnancy Resource Centers All of these centers offer free and confidential services to those facing unplanned pregnancies, including pregnancy testing and ultrasounds. • Rockville Women’s Center | Rockville, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Clarksburg, and Boyds Maryland (240-779-1585) • Shady Grove Pregnancy Center | (301) 963-6223 • Care Net | Locations all around greater Washington, DC Volunteer Want to volunteer at a Pregnancy Resource Center or other organization serving vulnerable women and children? - CHOMNO IN
CAMBODIA CHOMNO IN Tell me more about your mission? Our mission is to equip and empower the church to strengthen the quality of life of disadvantaged rural people and vulnerable children by cultivating hope for the future, where self-reliance among the communities is obtained through the support from CHO’s income generating projects. What are some victories I can celebrate with you? Being able to provide health training and relief packages for and seeing the blessings is a victory that we would like for you to celebrate with us. We also would like for you to celebrate the 12 people who offered their lives to God. What are some of the challenges you face? The Corona pandemic is one of the biggest challenges that we are facing now because we are not able to do our normal work. Keeping the church pastors, leaders and members motivated is very challenging. They not only struggle with meeting their physical needs, but emotional and spiritual as well. Another challenge is providing training to the community. Although we cannot meet in groups, we can do house visits - but it takes longer to reach everyone. And we must keep in mind the safety of the staff and the people they come in contact with at the same time. How can I pray for you? Please pray that we will continue to have funding to help support the poor people with some more covid relief packages. Please pray that our leaders and pastors continue to be encouraged and motivated. Please pray that we all stay healthy. Please pray that God provides us with wisdom on how to help and lead his people. How can I support you? We would love for Cedarbrook to continue to help support the health project because it is really needed, especially during times like these. If possible, we would like to have more teams from Cedarbrook church to come and help us here with our ministry in the community. We need skilled people to come and train our staff in areas of computers, English, pastor training, as well as doctors or nurses to come and work alongside our staff. Where can I learn more? You can go to our website at www.cambodianhopeorganization.org to learn more about us. but the website is not updated yet because we don't have anyone with the skills to help out with that. global missions

- How Do I Pray?
ea5b1407-5ee7-4db2-babd-b25847ccda36 I will make you become: a disciple is being changed by Jesus Jesus wants to transform us so that we become the kind of people who genuinely love God and others from the core of our being. This change in our hearts goes way beyond what our willpower and good intentions can accomplish. But, it is also not something that God will do in us without our involvement. Each month we will provide video and print resources that look at a spiritual practice, experience, or relationship that can ground us in a lifestyle of openness to God and the work he is doing in us. - PETER JACKSON
PETER JACKSON Youth Worship Leader & Worship Assistant I’m the Youth Worship Leader and Worship Assistant here at Cedarbrook, where I get to combine two things I love—music and investing in the next generation. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is watching students step up to lead their peers in worship. There’s nothing quite like seeing them grow in confidence, faith, and leadership. I’ve been part of Cedarbrook my entire life—literally. I’ve been here since birth, which makes 33 years and counting! I’m married to my incredible wife, Brittany, and we have three amazing kids: Emma (7), Camden (4), and Eden (2). They keep life full, fun, and occasionally loud. Outside of church, I’m a below-average runner but an above-average fan of pickup sports. If there’s a game happening, I’m in—basketball, soccer, you name it. I also have a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life, like a warm brownie topped with ice cream. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from UMBC, and I’ve been on staff here at Cedarbrook for about 7 or 8 years. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m grateful to serve a church that feels like home in every sense of the word.
- ABBY MARTINEZ
ABBY MARTINEZ Administrative Assistant I’m the Administrative Assistant at Cedarbrook, and I’ve been part of the staff since 2021, but my connection to this church goes back nearly 30 years. I’m married with two grown children, Amber and Zach, and I’m a proud grandma to four amazing grandkids: Rowan, Jakob, Logan, and Levi. Outside of work, I love singing, crafting, cooking, and staying active. I even play in two bands, one acoustic and one party band — and I teach crafting workshops when I can. My career journey has taken me from 17 years as a Respiratory Therapist to owning my own business, to taking time off to help raise my grandsons before stepping into my role here. My favorite treat is Key Lime Pie (though I don’t have it often), and my favorite part of my job is getting to work with our pastors, staff, and ministry leads to help build and support the church that has been my home for almost three decades. abby@cedarbrook.org
- WILLIAM FERRY
WILLIAM FERRY Men's Ministry Leader I’m the Men’s Ministry Leader here at Cedarbrook. I’m married to Joelle, and together we have four amazing kids—Kevin, Emily, Faith, and Derek. When I’m not with the guys or my family, you can usually find me recharging on a dog walk with an audiobook, catching some serenity on the mountain bike trails, or getting humbled every time I lose at pickleball! A fun fact about me: I’m a lifelong learner. I read one Proverb a day—31 days, 31 Proverbs. It’s my daily dose of wisdom. I’ve been blessed with a 20+ year career that’s shaped a lot of who I am professionally. I’m currently a sales executive with Harvey W. Hottel in Gaithersburg, where we provide commercial HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing services. My favorite treat? Easy—chips and salsa. And honestly, one of the things I love most about what I get to do is our daily 5:45am IronMen Leadership Prayer call. It keeps us grounded, connected, and constantly amazed by the grace of God.
