OUR STORY

From a movie theater in Gaithersburg to a church family in Clarksburg, Cedarbrook’s story is one of faith, sacrifice, community, and God’s continued faithfulness.

Where it all began

In March 1989, Cedarbrook Community Church was planted by Pastor Paul Abbott and a group of 40 Jesus-loving people at the Loews Movie Theater in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

In those early days, a small group of dedicated volunteers carried everything from Sunday school and caregiving to worship, sound, lighting, and small groups. They gave their time, energy, and resources with faith that God would use it to advance the Gospel and impact lives.
