  • KEN JACKSON

KEN JACKSON Spiritual Formation Pastor I’m the Spiritual Formation Pastor here at Cedarbrook, but my favorite title is “Molly’s husband.” We have two sons, Peter and Daniel, two amazing daughters-in-law, Brittany and Courtney, and five grandchildren: Emma, Grace (who is now with Jesus), Camden, Eden, and Maya. We also have an overly friendly labradoodle named Tucker who thinks everyone is his best friend. I enjoy long hikes, scuba diving, and a good game of softball. Fun fact: I was actually the very first visitor on Cedarbrook’s opening Sunday, and the beautiful greeter who welcomed me that day later became my wife. Before ministry, I painted houses, worked in retail management for a grocery store chain, and eventually stepped into full-time ministry in my early 30s. I have been serving at Cedarbrook since 1992, and I still love it, especially getting to work alongside such incredible people. And if you ever want to win me over, bring me some Popeyes Fried Chicken. ken@cedarbrook.org

  • Mission Projects | cedarbrook

EMPOWER: Missions Projects In October 2024, Pastor Jonathan encouraged the church family to take a survey to get a sense of how the church and her people were doing spiritually and personally. For the most part, the survey confirmed what we were already hearing and experiencing, but it also unveiled some areas of actionable intelligence that would strengthen and empower Cedarbrook to become radical in following Jesus on mission in this next year. Two insights from the survey which God is now positioning Cedarbrook to capitalize on related to this Empower initiative is as follows: 52% of all respondents said the church doesn’t provide adequate opportunities to help the suffering or marginalized in society 67% of all respondents said the church is not involved enough in addressing injustices in society The implications of each of these insights are as follows: There is a hunger within our Cedarbrook family to address societal issues as they relate to suffering and marginalized in society. We are uniquely positioned and have an opportunity to overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). How can Cedarbrook capitalize on these insights? Bolster reach and effectiveness of Cedarbrook’s own relief ministries (Clarksburg Closet, Clarksburg CAN, public school outreach, etc) Develop and grow missions partnerships ministering the gospel and aid to suffering and marginalized people groups Bolstering Cedarbrook’s Own Relief Ministries Our volunteers are the heart of our benevolence and relief ministries, including Clarksburg Closet and Clarksburg CAN. However, their dedication is often stretched thin due to limited resources. To ensure we can continue to provide essential support to those in need, we aim to enhance our organizational capacity. This will allow our volunteers to spend more time connecting with individuals and less time on administrative tasks. Goals Q2: Digitize inbound requests and outbound fulfillment tracking Q4: Systematize volunteer recruiting and scheduling Developing partnerships ministering to marginalized people Similarly, our ability to minister to unreached, marginalized people groups is limited to the availability of our dedicated volunteers. As a church, we believe God is calling Cedarbrook to be a disciple-making, missional church committed to planting new churches in the Baltimore-Washington DC metro area and beyond with the goal of reaching unreached people groups with the love of Christ. Goals Q1: Expand and develop our lay missions team to be able to fully support existing local and international missions partnerships and grow our missions capacity Q3: Extend our local and international missions partnerships by 20% Q4: Identify and build capacity for two short term mission trips for 2026 GIVE

Discover creative ways to give beyond cash at Cedarbrook Church. From stocks and real estate to vehicles and legacy gifts, your generosity can make an eternal impact. Non-Cash Giving There are many ways to make a gift to Cedarbrook Community Church. Below are some of the most common ways to make a gift, whether it is to a specific ministry that you are passionate about or to our General Fund that goes to areas of greatest need. More information about each of these areas can be found below. Stocks and Mutual Funds When you give appreciated securities to Cedarbrook, you’re leveraging your tax benefits for Kingdom development. Donors may deduct the fair market value of the securities while avoiding tax on the appreciated gain. In short, donors may claim both the security and its appreciation as a charitable contribution income tax deduction without incurring a capital gains tax. Consult with your financial and/or tax advisor to analyze your particular situation and confirm tax benefits. The deduction is based on the fair market value of the securities on the date they are owned by the church (typically, this is the date the securities are deposited into the church’s brokerage account). Cedarbrook’s policy is to immediately sell the securities received and then use the net proceeds for the designated charitable purpose of the gift. For further instructions on how to give through stocks, bonds and other marketable securities, email info@cedarbrook.org or call (301) 528-6702. IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions If you are over 70-1/2 years old, then you may distribute directly from your IRA to Cedarbrook up to $100,000 per year and exclude the contributed amount from your gross income for tax purposes. We are focusing all of our generosity – tithes, offerings, and gifts – into three funds. 1. Our General Fund provides the resources needed to grow our current ministries, expand our ministries and launch new ones, and increase our role in church planting and missions work both locally and around the world. 2. Our Benevolence Fund exists to bless our community and provide emergency financial assistance to members of Cedarbrook and people in the community on a case by case basis. 3. Our Empower Offering is our over and above fund that is used to supplement areas God is working in at our church to grow and expand ministries, church planting, and missions. How can cash donations get incorporated into my giving history? Yes, you can. Place your cash in a sealed and clearly marked envelope with your name, address, and contact information. What is your refund policy? Our budget and ongoing financial health rely on accounting for and accepting irrevocable, non-refundable donations from our congregation. Therefore, Cedarbrook Community Church considers all donations to be nonrefundable. The church may consider returning donations to the donor, but only in limited circumstances. Depending on the circumstances, the church will consider your request if it is made within ninety (90) days of the original donation. All refunds are returned using the original method of payment. For example, if your donation was made by credit card, your refund will be credited to that same account. Undesignated cash donations made without identifying the donor (i.e., loose cash collected during offering at a service) will not be refunded. You are responsible for all tax considerations that may arise if your donation is refunded. Additional Questions? If you have any questions, please contact the Board of Directors or call (301) 528-6702.

This change in our hearts goes way beyond what our willpower and good intentions can accomplish. But, it is also not something that God will do in us without our involvement. • SANCTITY OF LIFE | cedarbrook

At Cedarbrook, we affirm the value of all life—supporting women, children, and families with Christ’s love through care, resources, and advocacy. SANCTITY OF LIFE At Cedarbrook, we recognize this is a divisive moment in our culture. And while our culture presents us with the false dichotomy that we can either support only women or only children. We believe the Gospel compels us to love both women and children, and we are committed to supporting and encouraging mothers and women broadly while at the same time affirming the value of all children at every stage of life. We believe that ALL PEOPLE are made in the image of God regardless of a person’s age, gender, ethnicity, economic status, or any other variables. When we advocate for life, that unequivocally includes advocating for the unborn. But we also must advocate for life at every stage. As a church, we are committed to providing as many compassionate options for care and support as we uphold the value of life with the love Christ calls us to. This is why we as a church do the work we do in partnering with local pregnancy resource centers in the area and encourage foster care and adoption. • WILLIAM CARY RAMAKURI

INDIA WILLIAM CARY RAMAKURI Tell me more about your mission? Our motto is "Making Jesus Known". We travel to villages in the rural cities of India and preach the gospel to unknown people groups regardless of the creed, culture and background. We believe that the gospel of Grace has the power to change anyone. Our primary goal is to train people in the Word and send them out to these rural areas to serve. We also plant churches in places where Jesus is unknown and people don't have the Bible translated in their language. We strategically train people from the same culture who can speak the same language and place them as overseers of the church in that area. What are some victories I can celebrate with you? After the devastating season of the coronavirus pandemic, many young men and women came to the Lord and received Him as their personal savior. What are some of the challenges you face? The constant oppression on small churches by nationalist political parties. How can I pray for you? Pray that even in oppression and persecution, the gospel message is preached. How can I support you? Please email missions@cedarbrook.org . Where can I learn more? Please email missions@cedarbrook.org or visit https://www.aenonchurch.com/ . global missions
